Volunteer Luncheon
Each May, Meals on Wheels takes a moment to say thank you to its many volunteers. The Board of Trustees hosts a luncheon at the Elmer Grange Hall as a small token of its appreciation. Volunteer drivers use their own cars and are not reimbursed for gas mileage. Volunteers also participate as board members and help make the annual pumpkin carve and holiday gift project a success each year.
The Giant Pumpkin Carve
Meals on Wheels holds this annual fund raising event, on the third Saturday, each October. Local artists come together with high school and amateur artists to carve giant pumpkins. The fall event offers a pumpkin light show, free hayrides, face painting food, music and a lot of family fun. It celebrates the agricultural and artistic heritage of Salem County, while raising money for Meals on Wheels. For more information, please visit our website, www.GiantPumpkinCarve.com.
Holiday Gift Project
The holiday gift project demonstrates that Salem County truly is a “great place to live.” Support for this project comes from individuals and organizations from every segment of Salem County. All Meals on Wheels recipients receive a holiday gift package full of useful items that can be used throughout the year.
