Meals on Wheels of Salem County, New Jersey delivers nutritious meals to elderly and disabled county residents who cannot shop for or prepare meals on their own because of physical or mental disabilities.
Our main focus has always been on the importance of nutrition for those who are chronically ill and confined primarily to their homes due to illness or advancing age. The program’s ability to grow from serving 3,930 meals 34 years ago to over 45,000 a year has depended upon our dedicated volunteers as well as a volunteer Board of Trustees who remain committed to the organizational mission.
As we enter the final weeks of 2011, we hope you will consider extending a helping hand to a lonely homebound senior or disabled person. It's hard for most of us to imagine Thanksgiving or other holidays without a meal. Yet for some of our clients, there is little money for a basic meal, let alone a special meal for a holiday. You can help us in a couple of ways during the holidays: donating small gifts that will be delivered to our clients or by providing your financial support, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Salem Health & Wellness Foundation. Please take a look at both of these opportunities to help your neighbors by clicking here: 2011 Holiday Giving appeal.
We also hope you will join us in partnering with Meals on Wheels Association of America and take the Pledge to "End Senior Hunger by 2020". Click here to learn more about Meals on Wheels and our services or call 856-935-3663.
On behalf of our Board of Trustees and staff, thank you for your ongoing support. May the good things in life be yours in abundance at Thanksgiving and throughout the New Year.

See pictures from our 15th Anniversary Giant Pumpkin Carve where giant pumpkins were turned into works of art when amateur and professional artists carved their gourds. Learn who won prizes, too! Our Giant Pumpkin Carve is Meals on Wheels main annual fundraiser. Thanks to our more than 60 sponsors and donors, as well as about 4,500 attendees, Meals on Wheels nearly reached our Giant Pumpkin Carve fundraising goal to help feed senior citizens and disabled residents.
